OPENING NEW SCHOOLS
Having been the project director for Langley Academy and subsequently a Governor and Chair of Governors, Valerie was involved in the bid writing, set up and development of Langley Academy Primary Free School, which opened in 2015. She was also involved in supporting SGS Pegasus Free School, a special school.
She has developed the education vision and curriculum for several successful bids for new UTCs, including Elstree UTC, Watford UTC and Global Academy UTC which was over-subscribed and opened in September 2016.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT ADVICE
Before the launch of the UTC and free schools programmes, Valerie was education advisor and project director for more than a dozen successful new academies. Valerie’s responsibilities included project management through to successful opening. She worked with SGS Berkeley Green UTC which opened in September 2017.
GOVERNANCE
Valerie Bragg chaired the SGS Academy Trust, a Multi Academy Trust from 2017 to 2020. South Gloucestershire and Stroud College sponsor the Trust. The Trust's ethos ensures that Headteachers are allowed to focus on Teaching and Learning whilst the Trust provides the framework, information, services and specialist expertise to support school leadership.
GOVERNANCE
Mary Hare is a school for deaf children in Newbury, Berkshire, taking children from Year 1 to Year 13 (aged 5-19) across both Primary and Secondary sites. Valerie Bragg provided specialist advice on responsibilities and performance of school executives and governors.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Having been a hugely succussful Principal of a large comprehensive, turned round failing schools and helped new leadership teams develop, Valerie is regularly called on to advise Principals and Chairs of Governors. Her advice ranges from confidential consultations to strategy workshops and team-building.
